Actus Community Fund Supports Big Brothers, Big Sisters Of Honolulu
The Actus Community Fund (ACF) recently awarded Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Honolulu (BBBS) a $1,600 grant that was used for materials to construct a Money Vault, which will be used for fundraising at community events like the BBBS Family Fun Day held earlier this month that drew hundreds of families. The Money Vault allows participants to get suited up in a jumpsuit and safety goggles and are then “locked” in the vault. A blower fan is turned on blowing cash all around them, and the participant attempts to grab as much flying money in the vault for approximately 30 seconds. It’s a fun way to generate awareness of and raise money for BBBS.
In addition to the cash donation, Actus employees spent more than 20 hours of their personal time to help gather materials and build the Money Vault with BBBS staff to help keep BBBS within their limited budget.
The Money Vault and the support it will give to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Honolulu drew the interest of local media that showcased the organization on a morning news show aired on the local CBS affiliate.
